The OMAG Machinery and Equipment Factory is a company with a long tradition, dating back to pre-war Poland. Its history is a continuation of the United Machinery and Automotive Factories “Oświęcim,” manufacturer of the popular “Oświęcim-Praga” cars. Before the war, the company was known for producing both passenger cars and trucks, including models such as the Piccolo, Alfa, Mignon, and Grand. Their vehicles were endorsed by famous customers, including Jan Kiepura and Wojciech Kossak, who in 1933 praised the purchase of a modern eight-cylinder “Oświęcim-Praga” in a letter to his wife.
After the war, in response to the growing needs of the developing mining industry, the company changed its business profile, becoming the OMAG Mining Machinery Spare Parts Factory, initially producing spare parts and, over the years, also lifting and drilling equipment. In 1993, the company adopted its current name – OMAG Machinery and Equipment Factory, opening up to new markets and continuing its operations in the mining industry, as well as expanding production to other industrial sectors.
