Regional Observatory of the Transformation Process (ROPT)

The Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce, in partnership with the Silesian Voivodeship as the Leader, the Central Mining Institute and the Miners’ Trade Union in Poland, has launched the REGIONAL OBSERVATORY OF THE TRANSFORMATION PROCESS (ROPT) project under Priority Axis I Modern Economy, Measure 1.4 Support for the innovation ecosystem, Sub-measure 1.4.3 Management and implementation of the regional innovation ecosystem of the Silesian Voivodeship – transformation of the region (decision no. UDA-RPSL.01.04.03-24-0004/22-00 of the Management Board of the Silesian Voivodeship).

The aim of the Project is to support and improve the management of the region's socio-economic transformation process by:

Given that the Chamber brings together entities operating in the coal mining industry and its surroundings, it has long been interested in the potential consequences of the transformation process on the well-being of these entrepreneurs and institutions, as well as the regions in which they operate, and their residents.

The Chamber’s primary strategic goal is to represent, support, and protect the interests of mining entrepreneurs and mining-related companies and institutions during the energy transition of the fuel and energy sector. Given this, it is crucial to continuously collect and analyze data on this process, which will impact not only the entities associated with the Chamber but also the entire regions in which they operate, as well as their residents. The Chamber’s mission is to adequately prepare entrepreneurs for the necessary changes. One way to implement the Chamber’s tasks is through participation in projects such as the Regional Observatory of the Transformation Process (ROPT).

The participation of the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce in the project concerns two activities from the consultation module:

The Chamber will organize a series of eight workshops for local governments, NGOs, business associations, and entrepreneurs in subregions of the Silesian Voivodeship, particularly in mining municipalities, which are particularly affected by the potential effects of the transformation.

The aim of the workshops will be to disseminate knowledge about the process of socio-economic transformation in Silesia, sources and opportunities for obtaining project financing, and to identify potential for building specialization in individual subregions.

During the workshops, special attention will be paid to the need to implement innovative and creative solutions and digital technologies, the role and quality of business and social services, as well as the activation and development of human resources.

To ensure the workshops are of an appropriately high quality, the Chamber plans to maintain ongoing contact with the institutions responsible for implementing the transformation process.

Innovation workshops for entrepreneurs, inventors, and technology pioneers, along with running a campaign office – the Chamber will organize a series of six workshops for the designated target group, focusing on the latest trends in the economy and industry, technological innovations, and innovations, including those related to renewable energy sources, the circular economy, and the automation and digitization of production processes.

The aim of the workshops will be to introduce participants to innovative technical solutions, discuss opportunities for organizational and occupational safety improvements, identify future qualifications/competencies, company transformation paths, and discuss digital transformation.

Each meeting will be dedicated to a specific topic and will enable entrepreneurs to learn about the latest solutions in the industries of the future. It will be led by an expert in the relevant field. The workshop agenda will also include disseminating knowledge about the socio-economic transformation process in Silesia and opportunities for obtaining financing for innovation implementation and business re-invention.
