Organization of a study trip to the Netherlands

From July 6–9, 2026, as part of the ROPT 2.0 project, the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce organized a study tour to the Randstad region in the Netherlands. Its main objective was to explore practical solutions supporting the economic, energy, and spatial transformation of areas with strong industrial traditions. The itinerary included stops in Delft, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and The Hague, and participation in the trip provided an opportunity for a direct exchange of experiences among representatives of public administration, academia, and the business community. Particular attention was paid to mechanisms for cooperation among these sectors, ways to support innovation, and the challenges associated with regions transitioning toward a more sustainable and low-carbon development model.

The participants visited, among other places, Delft University of Technology, where they learned about the Delft Innovation District model, based on close collaboration between academia, business, and government. In Rotterdam, they learned about the process of transforming former port and industrial sites into modern hubs for innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of new technologies. Visits to the Rotterdam Makers District, RDM Campus, Europoort, Maasvlakte 2, and Portlantis were also key components of the program. In Amsterdam, participants observed how former shipyard and industrial sites are being repurposed for residential, business, and cultural uses, while being developed in accordance with the principles of the circular economy, green infrastructure, energy efficiency, and sustainable land use management.
