Conference “Thermal Coal Mining in the Energy Transition Period. Questions and Doubts”

The Polish Economic Society’s conference, “Steam Coal Mining in the Energy Sector Transition Period. Questions and Concerns,” was held today at the Central Mining Institute – National Research Institute in Katowice. It provided a platform for a substantive discussion on the future of Polish mining.

The President of the Mining Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Janusz Olszowski, delivered a lecture on “The Impact of Hard Coal Mining Closure on the Loss of Public Revenue.” In his address, he emphasized the importance of discussing not only mine closures but also the economic impact of the energy transition and the possible financial consequences for the public sector.

The speakers also included Leszek Pietraszek, Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship; Łukasz Deja, President of Polska Grupa Górnicza; Grzegorz Wacławek, President of #WęglokoksKraj; and Stanisław Tokarski, Ph.D., Eng., from the AGH University of Science and Technology.
