GIPH General Assembly – A Review of the Year’s Work and a Discussion on the Future of the Sector

On June 8, 2026, the 39th Annual General Meeting of Representatives of the Members of the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce was held in Katowice. This year’s meeting took place at the Mining Equipment and Tools Factories of the FASING S.A. Capital Group and, as every year, served as an important opportunity to review the Chamber’s activities, assess the past months, and discuss the most significant challenges facing the mining, energy, and mining-related sectors.

The meeting took place at a particularly crucial time for the industry. Companies involved in mining, energy, and technological, manufacturing, and service support are currently operating in an environment marked by intense regulatory changes, rising operating costs, pressure related to the energy transition, and the need to maintain the competitiveness of Polish industry. In this context, the General Meeting served not only as a formal summary of another year of GIPH’s work but also as an opportunity to emphasize the importance of the industry speaking with a unified, responsible, and informed voice.

The Guest of Honor at this year’s General Meeting was Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. Marian Zmarzły. His presence lent the meeting special significance and reaffirmed the importance of dialogue between the public administration and the business community representing the fuel and energy sector and the mining support industry.

Summary of the Chamber’s Activities

During the meeting, a report on the activities of the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce and its financial statements were presented. It was an opportunity to discuss the most important actions undertaken by the Chamber in recent months, including its advisory, expert, legislative, informational, and representative activities.

Over the past year, the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GIPH) continued its efforts to protect the interests of its member companies and strengthen the sector’s position in the public debate. The Chamber participated in consultations on key documents and regulatory solutions, voiced its opinions on matters crucial to the country’s energy security, and engaged in initiatives aimed at building expertise, fostering industry cooperation, and developing modern industrial infrastructure.

Of particular importance were activities in the areas of energy policy, sector transformation, EU regulations, public procurement, the ETS system, environmental issues, and the operational security of enterprises. The Chamber consistently emphasized that changes in the economy must be carried out responsibly, taking into account technological, social, and economic realities.

Appointment of New Members to the Chamber Council

Another item on the agenda was the appointment of new members to the Council of the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The decisions made during the General Meeting are intended to further strengthen the representation of the business community affiliated with the Chamber and to ensure the continuity of the Chamber’s governing bodies.

As a result of the vote, the following individuals were elected to the Chamber’s Council:

  • Ms. Małgorzata ŁĄCKA – President of the Management Board, Holding KW Sp. z o.o.
  • Mr. Bogusław OLEKSY – President of the Management Board, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A.
  • Mr. Marek BAJOR – President of the Management Board, MWM Elektro Sp. z o.o.

Mining ranks and anniversary medals

This year’s General Assembly also had a ceremonial aspect. During the meeting, mining ranks were awarded, along with GIPH’s 35th-anniversary medals, in recognition of individuals associated with the Chamber’s activities and the mining community.

It was a symbolic moment highlighting the importance of many years of work, commitment, and cooperation for the benefit of the industry. Mining and the related industries are not only about infrastructure, technologies, and companies, but above all about the people whose knowledge, experience, and sense of responsibility have built the economic potential of the region and the country over the years.

The presentation of the awards during the General Assembly also served as an opportunity to highlight the anniversary nature of this year for the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which for 35 years has represented the sector’s interests, supported industry dialogue, and participated in the most important processes concerning the future of Polish industry.

The Industry’s Voice in Times of Challenging Decisions

During the General Meeting, the need to further strengthen the role of GIPH as an organization representing businesses operating in the mining and energy sectors was emphasized particularly strongly. The meeting participants unanimously agreed that the coming years will require the industry to be highly active, consistent, and capable of engaging in dialogue with government agencies, EU institutions, local governments, the scientific community, and business partners.

At the heart of these efforts lie the country’s energy security, the stability of business operations, job protection, skills development, and the maintenance of Polish industry’s technological and production potential. GIPH, as an organization bringing together companies and institutions with diverse business profiles, plays a special role in this process—it combines the perspectives of industry, science, technology, services, and government, creating a space for discussion about solutions that can be implemented in practice.

It was also emphasized that the sector’s transformation cannot be driven solely by political assumptions or strategic declarations. It must take into account the realistic capabilities of enterprises, the needs of the economy, the availability of technology, the situation of workers, and the importance of national resources for the country’s stability.

Another Year of Responsible Work

The 39th Ordinary General Assembly of GIPH Member Representatives confirmed that the Chamber remains an important forum for exchanging experiences, presenting the industry’s positions, and developing a common approach to the challenges facing the fuel, energy, and industrial sectors.

The past year has shown that the role of industry organizations today is not limited solely to representing the interests of their member entities. Increasingly, they are also participants in the debate on the direction of economic development, partners in consultation processes, initiators of educational and skills-building projects, and entities that highlight the need to maintain a balance between climate goals, industrial competitiveness, and energy security.

The official part of this year’s General Assembly concluded with this message. The Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce faces another year of intensive work—both on behalf of its member companies and the entire community that will help shape the future of Polish industry, energy, and the raw materials sector in the coming years.
