Vocational lessons at the BCU Ore Mining Centre – practical support for children

The Ore Mining Skills Center 4.0 in Lubin regularly hosts vocational lessons, providing a supportive break for students. These activities are aligned with the provisions of the BCU’s educational regulations, which support schools in implementing physical activity and inclusive youth engagement.

Vocational education lessons are an initiative aimed primarily at eighth-grade primary school students – young people facing the challenge of choosing their future educational and career paths. Their goal is to introduce students to the specifics of professions related to metal ore mining and to demonstrate real-world development opportunities in the modern mining industry.

Participants have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with modern teaching facilities, observe practical classes, and meet with instructors and industry experts. During the visits, students learn about simulator labs, technical workshops, and a training environment that replicates working conditions in the mining industry.

Examples of such activities include the vocational education lessons conducted in 2026, which took place on March 18th and April 28th, among others. The March classes were the first of this year. Students participated in classes at BCU’s Training Ground, where they could not only see but also try out modern equipment, including a crane, a forklift, and others. Mining machinery simulators and welding simulators using augmented reality technology. Subsequent meetings held at the end of April confirmed the significant interest in this form of learning about professions and its value in the educational and career decision-making process.

The lesson format also includes presentations of educational paths and employment opportunities in the industry, allowing young people to make more informed educational and career decisions. The lessons are often led by practitioners with professional experience in the mining sector, further enhancing their substantive value and credibility.

The organization of vocational lessons by BCU Górnictwa Rud 4.0 represents one of the key areas of these centers’ activities: supporting career counseling. In accordance with regulations, BCU supports schools in implementing tasks arising from the Education Law through activities enabling students to learn about professions, the labor market, and their own aptitudes.
