Janusz Olszowski, President of the Mining Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participated in the “Mining of the Future” panel during the European Economic Congress – one of the most important business events in this part of Europe.
The discussion focused on the future of the mining sector in the context of economic, social, and technological changes affecting both industrial regions and companies operating in the mining environment.
Key topics included the impact of the transformation of hard coal and lignite mining on regional economies and local communities, the challenges of retraining workers, and the opportunities to leverage the sector’s unique competencies, experience, and know-how in new areas of the industry.
A particularly important topic was the role of the mining infrastructure – manufacturing and service companies that have spent years building specialized competencies, technologies, and solutions for this demanding industry. Today, this potential can be utilized in areas such as the circular economy, the recovery and processing of critical raw materials, the management of mining waste, and industrial and energy projects.
